Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida is now enrolling volunteer participants in a pioneering international Alzheimer’s disease prevention research program. The Alzheimer’s Prevention Initiative (API) Generation Program is made up of two clinical trials—Generation Study 1 and Generation Study 2—and will test investigational study medications which aim to prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease in cognitively healthy people whose genetic makeup puts them at particularly high risk for developing the disease at older ages. 

Trustbridge Hospice Foundation is proud to announce the election of Dr. Jeffrey Bishop, Neil Solomon and Meredith Tucker as the newest members of the board of Directors.  The Trustbridge Foundation serves as the philanthropic branch of Trustbridge and supports the specialized programs and services that Trustbridge provides patients and families in our community. 

Jupiter Medical Center is partnering with Life Line Screening, the nation’s largest provider of preventive health screenings, to help people age 50 and older understand their risk for stroke, vascular disease and aneurysms. Identifying risk before symptoms occur allows those who are at risk to take action and potentially prevent chronic disease. 

IDS, a cloud-based technology company specializing in health information management services, announced that Jim McKeen has joined the company as Vice President of Healthcare Solutions. As a key member of the executive team, Jim will be driving growth and implementation of new business development strategies for larger healthcare organizations in the South East. 

Initiative reflects transformational gift from Elaine J. Wold and Bay Branch Foundation

Officials at Boca Raton Regional Hospital today announced that it will name its existing inpatient facility the “Gloria Drummond Patient Tower” in response to a transformational gift of $25 million from noted philanthropist Elaine J. Wold and the Bay Branch Foundation.
VA Mission Act: Enhancing Healthcare for Veterans

After passing through the Senate and House of Representatives, the VA Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks Act of 2018 (“Act”) was signed into law by President Trump. However, shortly after signing the VA Mission Act bill into law, President Trump issued a signed statement which opposed certain funding measures and portions of the legislation.

The Board of Directors of the Dade County Medical Association (DCMA), wants to announce that Dr. Raul Ravelo is finishing his tenure as President of the organization.  During his year Dr. Ravelo was able to achieve several notable accomplishments, despite managing the disruptions created by Hurricane Irma.  Dr. Ravelo and his board members were very successful in moving the DCMA to its new facilities near the University of Miami Medical Campus.  The new office space allows the DCMA to integrate advanced technology that will support its future social media and public relations strategies. “We think that this new facility will give the DCMA what it needs to lead us into the future and welcome new generations of physicians” commented Dr. Ravelo.

Abbey Delray South announces Rachel Blumberg as the senior living community’s new executive director. A native of South Florida, Blumberg has worked in the healthcare and senior living industries for more than 18 years, most recently serving in a similar role in Fort Lauderdale.

Wellington Regional Medical Center (WRMC) recently adopted a new technology to improve the surgical experience for women who are being treated for breast cancer.  An alternative to wire localization, SAVI SCOUT® Surgical Guidance System is a device used by surgeons and radiologists to precisely locate and direct the removal of a tumor during a lumpectomy or surgical biopsy procedure.
