Employment-agreement clauses about complex issues regarding your med mal coverage often are muddled at best, and some even create more questions than they would if they just didn’t deal with the important malpractice insurance issues. Confusion and ambiguous wording in contracts creates lawsuits, so fully understanding these five points will help immensely:

The U.S. healthcare system has struggled with rising costs and unequal quality.

In 2010 the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) became law, bringing major changes clinically and financially to drive better health outcomes, lower costs, and improve the distribution and accessibility of healthcare.

Outside the sign for the Community Health of South Florida Inc. (CHI) Marathon Health Center is a mangled piece of metal. Its plastic contents were taken somewhere else by the fury of Irma’s hurricane force winds. Yet the structure of the health center is intact and inside new life is brewing, quite literally. 

Hurricane Irma ripped through Florida in September, causing damage and destruction in many parts of the state, but OHL was spared from any real damage on any of its projects. Though the landscape is different, OHL's projects continued on schedule after the storm.

Think about the best customer experiences you have ever had. Maybe it was a trip to Disney where every ‘Cast Member’ you ran into was more happy and helpful than the one just before. Maybe it was a dining experience where the host, server, bartender and busboy blew you away with their remarkably friendly service. 

In addition to his professional work, he has taken an active role in numerous community activities. He currently serves as a member of the Dr. Antonio Jorge Social and Economic Development Council (SEDC), an advisory committee to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners. 

One paragraph in my medical textbook, that’s all I remember about scleroderma. In my 30-year nursing career, I had never come across it, until my daughter was diagnosed, at 23 years old. Scleroderma is Greek for hard skin. It is an autoimmune disease in which the body produces too much collagen.

For many years, death has been a distant and frightening event. While most still fear death, this philosophy is changing as more patients, and their families are sharing the death experience in the comfort of the same home where they have shared their living experiences.
