Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in American women, after skin cancer. In fact, one in eight women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. In 2019, it is estimated that there will be about 269,000 newly diagnosed cases of invasive breast cancer, and about 42,000 deaths from the disease.

Competition in health care is nothing new, but some competitors are. As traditional providers vie with like competitors most know how to compare and promote clinician skills and technology that differentiate them. But when health care professionals go head-to-head with newcomers skilled in the high-touch retail aspects of customer service they may feel like a fish out of water.

Zeff Ross' career with Memorial Healthcare System began in 1991 when, as he explained, Frank Sacco, then president and CEO, "offered me the position of being the administrator of a nonexistent hospital." Ross was hired April 29, 1991, and was assigned to build a hospital within a year, something that would ordinarily take a minimum of 14 months.

With the digital tools available today, it probably comes as no surprise that technology can be used in just about every industry and in every way within an accounting department. But while some physician’s practices and surgery centers may be resistant to new technology and change that comes along with it, the efficiencies and results of modernizing your accounting system will be well worth it.

There is a certain grocery store I love to frequent. When you walk in, you can purchase a glass of wine or beer to help enhance your shopping experience. At their deli, you can have a brick-oven, hand tossed pizza made to order (which they prepare while you shop). During a recent visit, I approached the pizza counter and requested a large pepperoni and a large Hawaiian.

Set for November 22 through 24, the Pro-Celebrity has raised more than $25 million, including $800,000 in 2018.

Hospitals that succeed in this environment will be those that not only share information with external partners on the care continuum to drive better care outcomes for patients at lower costs, but also those who break down traditional silos inside their own organizations.

A group of 27 Florida hospitals have filed a civil lawsuit against the manufacturers, distributors and retailers of opioid-based drugs. Florida hospitals have experienced significant financial and operational harm as they’ve fought and treated the complications of addiction on the frontlines of the nation’s opioid epidemic.
