20 Years Reaching for the Cure

The Scleroderma Foundation’s National Patient Education Conference, July 27-29, 2018

This year, the Scleroderma Foundation’s annual National Patient Education Conference also celebrates the organization’s 20th anniversary. Taking place July 27-28-29 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the conference will be held at Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Downtown Philly.
Often described as a life-changing experience, particularly for individuals whose scleroderma was recently diagnosed, the conference offers more than 60 educational workshops, dozens of exhibitors, and networking opportunities for people living with the disease. Caregivers, family members, and friends also gain from attending. And, there is a program specifically for youth who have scleroderma (ages 5 to 17) and their siblings, and for children of an adult who has scleroderma.
Leading scleroderma researchers and healthcare professionals present on multiple topics. The National Patient Education Conference helps individuals with scleroderma learn to cope with emotional challenges and to develop strategies for staying motivated. For many, the most rewarding part of the experience is meeting others who have scleroderma. For the newly diagnosed, seeing others who have learned to take charge of their health and their lives gives hope and inspiration.
Past workshop topics include African Americans and Scleroderma, Caring for Yourself While Caring for Another, Disability: Understanding Your Rights, Gastrointestinal Involvement with Scleroderma, Scleroderma in Kids and Teens, Lung Transplantation and Scleroderma, Raynaud Phenomenon, Scleroderma and Pregnancy, and Understanding the Psychological Effects of Scleroderma.
The registration fee is $250 for members and $300 for non-members if submitted on or before July 5. Children aged 5 to 17 are $75. Corporate attendees pay $495. (Other registration categories and fees may apply.)
