FAU Executive Education Certificate in Healthcare Leadership

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Executive Education is pleased to offer a dynamic five-day interdisciplinary program, Certificate in Healthcare Leadership.

Within healthcare systems where time and resources are at a premium, healthcare leaders must now create environments where diverse employees from four generations can experience Joy in Work (IHI). Learning what matters to team members is key to achieving success in leading change to advance quality and safety initiatives that are tied to value based outcomes and reimbursement. Forward thinking organizations are responding by supporting new and experienced leaders in continuous leadership development so that they are well-informed regarding industry initiatives and policy changes. Do not miss this opportunity to learn with and from a variety of South Florida interprofessionals who understand the need to respond to these challenges.

The curriculum for the Certificate in Healthcare Leadership has been designed by experts in healthcare administration, business, and nursing to provide your leadership staff with cutting edge solutions to promote organizational success. The program is taught by seasoned FAU faculty with extensive experience in the healthcare industry.

This interdisciplinary leadership development program was established using Jim Kouzes’ and Barry Posner’s evidenced-based The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® Model, which has been used by thousands of organizations globally over the past 30 years. The model consists of: (a) Challenging the Process, (b) Inspiring a Shared Vision, (c) Enabling Others to Act, (d) Modeling the Way, and (e) Encouraging the Heart. These practices are woven through a curriculum that includes key skills needed by healthcare leaders today, such as emotional intelligence, communication and collaboration, managing conflict, promoting teamwork, healthcare financing, human resource management, strategic planning, and quality management. Participants will complete the Leadership Practice Inventory and DiSC profile assessment to understand their behavioral and communication styles, identify individual strengths, and establish goals for ongoing leadership development.

The program is appropriate for both clinical and non-clinical leaders in health systems, long-term care settings, community healthcare practices, and pharmaceutical and medical supply firms. Classes are diverse as they have included physicians, pharmacists, nurse leaders, primary care practice leaders, clinic managers, healthcare program managers, and leaders interested in transitioning to the healthcare industry.

The next course offering at Florida Atlantic University will begin on October 16, 2019. To learn more and register, visit www.business.fau.edu/CHL.

For companies interested in group learning for employees, The Certificate in Healthcare Leadership can also be brought onsite to your organization and tailored to your needs.
