Ink & TonerUSA Offers Clients Less Expensive, Eco-friendly Cartridge Options

Running a successful hospital, healthcare facility or doctor’s office can be a challenge, especially when the goal is to increase efficiency while decreasing costs. Even the cost of little things, such as printer ink or toner cartridges, can add up to have a big effect on the bottom line. To help combat these costs, some healthcare facilities are turning to compatibles and remanufactured cartridges to help save money without losing quality or efficiency.

Ink & TonerUSA, established in March 2008, provides healthcare facilities and other clients with alternatives to full-cost ink and toner supplies, as well as brand-name products at lower prices. "Unlike some companies who just refill cartridges and give it back to the client, we test the cartridge before and after we fill it to make sure that it will perform successfully," said President and CEO Dennis Richards. "We only sell remanufactured cartridges that have been taken in by the manufacturer, disassembled, cleaned, given new components, refilled and reassembled. They are as good as new, yet cost less money than brand name ink and toner cartridges."

Dennis Richards is joined by Kristen Laraia (left) and Kate Volman from the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce at the Grand Opening.

According to Richards, it is important that clients understand the difference between remanufactured cartridges and what he calls ‘drill and fills.’ "A lot of people are leery of compatibles because there are businesses out there that will just fill old cartridges with ink without replacing any of the components," he explained. "It’s a shortcut, and sometimes it works. But our completely remanufactured cartridges are filled with cartridge-specific inks and toners. There is no such thing as a universal toner or ink; an HP cartridge, for example, needs to have HP compatible. Ink and TonerUSA take pride in offering our customers American-made inks, the best inks in the world."

Clients who choose to use remanufactured products instead of brand-name products can save between 30 and 50 percent on their inventory, and sometimes as much as 70 percent. And with today’s emphasis on going green and sustainable development, these same clients can also help protect the environment.

"Using remanufactured cartridges can actually have a very significant effect on the environment," explained Richards. "It takes more than three-quarters of a gallon of oil to make one new toner cartridge, and every time you use a remanufactured cartridge, you’re also putting one less cartridge in a landfill. You’re also reducing the amount of new packaging created, which is another good way to go green."

Healthcare facilities who are interested in using compatibles need only contact Ink & TonerUSA to find out how much their company can save. The store’s professionals will take a survey of the company’s printers, including make and model, and create a proposal of what it would cost—and save—each client. "We provide these items on an as-needed basis, unless the client wants to have a reoccurring order," said Richards. We offer free delivery to businesses, and can usually order and receive the products needed within a 24-hour period."

In addition to providing delivery service, Ink & TonerUSA also has a retail site at 2399 Plaza on the west side of Federal Highway. "We really like providing one-on-one service to our clients, especially when they have questions," said Richards. "Often people with older products don’t know where to find ink or toner for their particular printer, or want to know if it would save them money to use remanufactured cartridges. We’re happy to provide them with a price comparison quote or to work with them on finding the products they need."
