Island Coast Pediatrics Joins Vivida Health Medicaid Plan to Provide Health Care for Low-Income Families

November 29, 2019) Island Coast Pediatrics has joined the Vivida Health Medicaid plan to expand health services for low-income families.
Island Coast is a private pediatric practice that has been in the Lee County community for nearly 30 years, operating offices in Fort Myers, Cape Coral and Estero.
Vivida Health is a Medicaid Provider Service Network (PSN) providing access to high quality health care for eligible children, expectant mothers, elderly adults, low-income families and those with disabilities in Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, Lee and Sarasota Counties.
PSNs differ from traditional Medicaid plans in that they are owned, operated and governed by physicians and other health care providers. As a provider-owned and operated Medicaid plan, Vivida Health is designed to cater to the people and patients it serves within its designated region.
“Our patient-centered approach to Medicaid, coupled with Island Coast Pediatrics’ commitment to guiding families toward optimum health and well-being, makes them an ideal provider partner for the health plan,” said John Chomeau, chief population health officer at Lee Health. “We are excited to welcome Island Coast to Vivida Health and expand access to quality health care for our members.”
Founded in 1990, Island Coast Pediatrics employs nine board-certified pediatricians, two physician assistants and one advanced registered nurse practitioner. The medical practice has been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a patient-centered medical home.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to partner with Vivida Health and provide access to health care to low-income families through the Medicaid program,” said Dr. Darrell Troast, a physician with Island Coast Pediatrics. “Vivida has made a commitment to facilitate the connection between patients and their doctors, and this partnership promises to create positive energy and movement toward healthier lives for the children and families in our area.”
