Let’s Connect: SFHEF Spotlight

Happy New Year! 2015 was a successful year for me professionally as I was honored (and elected) to serve as President of South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum (SFHEF). In this role, I had the privilege to work with a dedicated all-volunteer board who selflessly gave of their time, talent and treasure to connect more than 700 local American College of Healthcare Executives members with activities and programs tailored to our members’ development needs. I am both very pleased and proud of the accomplishments we achieved for the benefit of our membership including educational and networking events, scholarships, student case competition, ACHE Board of Governor’s exam preparation, CEO Roundtable Breakfast and the collaboration with our partner healthcare-leader organizations such as WHEN and NAHSE. All this was realized in furtherance of our mission: to improve healthcare delivery by providing professional development opportunities for our members through educational and social activities. As we begin 2016, SFHEF will continue to deliver value to its membership under the leadership of Rene Zipper, our new President.

I relish the month of January and the renewal that it brings. For me, ringing in a new year is about more than just resolutions and plans. It is about exploring the possibilities that the New Year may bring; about keeping an open perspective to opportunities that may come. As the saying goes though, “Luck [aka‘success’] is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” This is what engaging in your professional organization can do for you. With ACHE and SFHEF, you can garner the preparation that will better ready you for that next opportunity!

What does your 2016 SFHEF Board ask of you? Connect with us! Join us at events, volunteer - there are many opportunities to volunteer on committees, to help at events, to mentor others - to make ACHE/SFHEF the best it can be. I invite you, healthcare leaders, to get involved, participate, join SFHEF and ACHE.

Until next time, I’m Ralph Rios ... let’s connect.
