Let’s Connect: SFHEF Spotlight

During my tenure as the education chair for South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum (SFHEF), I have been privileged to meet many South Florida healthcare leaders through our educational events. The educational events are the perfect venue to network and learn from our local healthcare leaders. A few of the topics that we have covered over the last few months include: "Strategic Marketing, Winning the Battle For Market Share", "Listening to Employers, How Health Systems Can Support Population Health Management", "Reinventing Customer Service In Healthcare, Lessons Learned from the Best" and "The Impact of ACA, How Readmission Penalties Will Affect the Healthcare Executive's Mission".
In our continuing efforts to keep our community abreast of the many challenges faced by the healthcare industry, we have timely education programs scheduled for September, October and November. Upcoming topics include: “Building the Hospital of Tomorrow”, “Ethics in Leadership” and “Achieving Triple Aim”. For all of us, it is a good practice to schedule a recurring calendar placeholder for the third Thursday of every month, as that is when we hold our events. The only time we vary from this schedule is if there is a holiday conflict.
My personal healthcare journey took a positive turn when I completed my Healthcare MBA at Florida International University in 2011. I had been a member of ACHE prior to obtaining my advanced degree, but recognized how vital the organization has been to my growth and ability to connect with other healthcare thought leaders within our community. After receiving my advanced degree, I pursued my Fellowship in healthcare management by obtaining the FACHE designation which stands for: Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. This designation is strongly recognized among leaders in the healthcare industry.
With the rapid changes in healthcare, especially with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, now is an opportune time to become more active with SFHEF. Our membership is a great cross section of healthcare leaders from the Acute Hospital Market, Long Term Care, Payor Market, Legal Community and many others. SFHEF attracts healthcare professionals who are early, mid and late in their careers. The opportunities to network with and learn from these professionals is invaluable.
Whether you are a healthcare leader or you aspire to become a healthcare leader, we invite you to join, get involved and participate in SFHEF and ACHE!
