Memorial Healthcare System Reorganizes Executive Team to Better Align Strategic and Growth Initiatives

After he was selected as Memorial Healthcare System’s President and CEO, Aurelio M. Fernandez, III, FACHE, announced a newly designed structure for his executive team – one that would align strategic initiatives and better position the organization for future growth. The structure exemplifies the organization’s commitment to patient care through the creation of a new system-wide position: Senior Chief Nursing Executive, which will focus on aligning clinical and quality initiatives for Memorial. In addition, three executive nurses are now leading Memorial hospitals.

“There is a fundamental difference between Memorial Healthcare System and other systems in our market, and I’m convinced that it is our culture of working collaboratively with the medical staff to put our patients first,” Fernandez said.

Fernandez has also shared his five primary initiatives for the organization that complement Memorial’s seven institutional pillars. 1. Becoming the safest healthcare system in the country; 2. Enhance the organization’s culture; 3. Develop the most technologically advanced healthcare system in the market; 4. Expand Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to new markets; 5. Grow clinically integrated models, physicians and hospitals, by affiliating with others that share common objectives.

“To achieve these initiatives, we needed to realign our management directives to better complement reporting structures that provides leadership in very specific lines of responsibilities,” Fernandez said. “I am confident that these changes not only provide the focus that is required to move the organization rapidly forward, but the mindfulness to maintain our values of doing what is right for our patients throughout this impressive journey.”
