Palm Healthcare Foundation’s Vice President of Grants and Community Investments Named a 2018 Terrance Keenan Institute Fellow

Abigail Goodwin, vice president of grants and community investments at Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc., Palm Beach County’s community foundation for health with a mission to improve health through community collaboration, has been honored with a fellowship from the Terrance Keenan Institute for Emerging Leaders in Health Philanthropy.  A project of the national Grantmakers in Health (GIH), the Institute awarded a total of 17 outstanding individuals into this year’s class.

Fellows will gather at a retreat in Washington, D.C., on October 10-11, 2018 to network with other fellows, participate in leadership development sessions and connect with seasoned leaders from the field of health philanthropy, many of whom are past fellows. The criteria for becoming a fellow was based on a number of factors including creativity, critical thinking, innovation, leadership skills and contributions to their respective foundations.

Each eligible organization is able to nominate a single individual, chosen by the CEO. “Abigail was a standout employee for this nomination,” said Patrick J. McNamara, president and CEO of the Palm Healthcare Foundation. “We’ve seen the outstanding work she’s done in leading our grantmaking and community efforts. We’re excited to see how she will take the connections and knowledge she garners through this fellowship at the national level to improve the health and well-being of Palm Beach County residents.”

Topics at the opening retreat will reflect key themes from Terrance Keenan’s work and writings such as leadership, innovation, taking risks, and the creative deployment of resources available to grantmakers. Terrance Keenan (1924-2009) had a profound impact on the field of health philanthropy, as well as on generations of individuals who have been inspired by his wisdom and values.

“I feel humbled and grateful to be named one of this year’s fellows,” Goodwin said. “This is an extraordianry opportunity for me to grow in the field of healthcare philanthropy.”
