Owed Two A Spell Chequer

We have a pretty good system around our office: I type something at my computer, then scream, “Carol,” (after all, her desk is at least 6 feet away.) She comes over to proof or edit and life goes on. This might seem like overkill to some (especially with Spell Check), but as many of my e-mail friends can attest — I really rely on Spell Check … often to a fault. So after my last faux pas in cyberspace, Carol placed the following poem on my desk (with apologies to Anonymous.)
Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques for my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea
Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight for it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh
As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long
And eye can put the error rite
Its rare lea ever wrong
Eye have run this poem threw it
I am shore your pleased two no
Its letter perfect awl the weigh
My checquer tolled me sew
So I guess one of my resolutions for 2011 should be … a little less Microsoft Works in my life and a little more Webster’s Dictionary. Wood ewe agree?
Welcome two a great knew year — lettuce make 2011 the best ever!
