Ralph Marrinson Celebrates Marrinson Group’s 50 Years of Operation in South Florida

First Licensed Senior Care Administrator in Florida Hosts Golden Anniversary Party for Long-Time Employees

Marrinson Group Founder Ralph Marrinson has seen many changes during his years in the senior services community. One thing that has not changed however is his hands-on dedication to providing the best care for the families he serves. This July, in a highly-competitive industry, he was proud to celebrate the Marrinson Group’s 50 years of service with continued expansion and success. The price of admission was a minimum of three years of employment. Despite senior services typically having a high turnover rate, more than 300 employees attended.
The secret of success for the Marrinson Group goes back to its founding. Ralph Marrinson ended up in the hospital during his junior year of college at Ohio State University. This experience encouraged him to pursue a career in hospital administration. He attained a double Master’s degree in hospital and business administration and had his residency at Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He accepted a position as an assistant administrator at Woodlawn Hospital where he became interested in the newly-emerging field of long-term care.
Marrinson learned that a group of Chicago investors was building a new senior citizen facility in Fort Lauderdale, and he eagerly assumed the role of administrator. Manor Pines Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation opened its doors in 1966. A year later, the Chicago investment group sold the facility to a Palm Beach investment group with the proviso that Ralph Marrinson remain at the helm. Marrinson was soon appointed to the Council for Nursing Home Administrators in 1969 by then-Governor Claude R. Kirk, Jr. and became the first licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of Florida in 1972. Marrinson later bought out the investors of Manor Pines and sought to expand the care offered with the 1973 opening of his first Independent Living Property, Independence Hall. Throughout the following decades, Marrinson continued its expansion, and its accumulation of accolades including the proclamation of “Wilton Manor’s Ralph and Jeanine Marrinson Day” in 1998. At present, the Marrinson Group operates 8 locations featuring independent and assisted living facilities, as well as skilled nursing and rehabilitation, in both Florida and South Carolina.
The family-owned enterprise, still helmed by the dynamic Ralph Marrinson, believes in listening to the needs of its residents as well as its staff, and striving to provide the best for both. The annual party celebrates the dedication of its staff with its minimum 3-years of service requirement, and welcomes many employees who have remained with the Group for decades.
“A company is only as strong as its weakest link and this is a people business,” says Marrinson. “The link between us and our residents is our people, and they should be recognized and lauded for their roles within the organization.”
