SM Wolf Trading: Tailored, Fast Printing for Hospitals

Hospitals build and maintain brand recognition in any number of ways. Their needs range from high-impact brochures, banner stands, trade show booths, and other printed materials. These products require the highest quality design and printing to reflect their brands in the best possible light.

Marketing executives often find it frustrating when ordering promotional items and printed material when specific design work is needed. This is due to the fact that the design is not done by the original sales company. The specs are sent to a third party. This makes the turn-around time longer and the communication for the finalizing the design more complicated.

Shawn Wolf, owner of SM Wolf Trading Company, headquartered in West Palm Beach, has changed this tedious procedure by providing the original design himself. In doing so, he focuses on turning client design around quicker and more efficiently. This streamlines the process, eliminates wasted time, and minimizes errors and miscommunication.

SM Wolf Trading Company is a family business. Shawnís mother, Shirley Horn, handles the marketing, and Shawn is responsible for design, technical production, and orders. Heís a graphic designer with a bachelorís degree from Monmouth University.

Today, the firm does business throughout the United States, including South Florida, where SM Wolf Trading is located. "Our clients like the idea of relating to me directly when they have printing and design work to be done. This is especially important for hospitals when so much work is time sensitive and people want to see the design quickly," says Shawn.

He also makes a point of avoiding off-the-shelf designs and instead, tailors his design work to reflect the specific needs of his clients. "We like the design and print work we do for clients to look fresh and new. Thatís the way to capture and retain attention. Yesterdayís designs donít make it," he says.

You could say that Shawn grew up in the printing business. As a young boy in his teens and during his college days, he worked in his fatherís sign business in New Jersey. He was responsible for the design work, set-up, computer graphics, client contact and orders.

After graduating from college, Shawn designed and produced trade show booths and displays for companies throughout the country. Clients were so pleased with his work, that they requested additional materials to be designed and printed for their businesses. As referrals mounted, Shawn took the entrepreneurial route and launched SM Wolf Trading, now a full- service design and printing company.

"As it turned out, Iíve thrived on being a printing generalist and serving as a one-stop shop for just about anything a client needs printed," he says. "I work on making it painless for clients to work with us. And we pride ourselves on our total responsiveness to our clients. We return phone calls and e-mails within 24 hours or less."

When possible, Shawn endeavors to use "green" and eco-friendly products and processes. "That goes for water bottles and for pieces printed on recyclable paper," he says.
