Florida Medical Center is dedicating its gastroenterological (GI) suite to a respected physician who recently passed away. Dr. Norman Kaufman, a gastroenterologist, served as a member of the medical staff at the hospital for more than 30 years.

“We are saddened by the loss of a valued and dedicated physician,” said Gabrielle Finley-Hazle, CEO of Florida Medical Center. “The medical staff wanted to commemorate Dr. Kaufman for his contributions to our hospital and the impact he had, not only as a physician, but also as a friend.”

Dr. Kaufman completed his education and residencies in New York before relocating to South Florida. Through his various practices and work with the hospital, he quickly grew to be one of the area’s most respected physicians.

Dr. Kaufman was fondly regarded as “the doctor’s doctor” for treating numerous peers and their families. He was also known for constantly giving compliments and making jokes. In addition to serving Florida Medical Center’s patients, Dr. Kaufman served on several hospital committees, including credentialing, GI and utilization review. He will always be remembered by his co-workers, patients, friends and family.
