Good Samaritan Medical Center is teaming up with Acreage Pines Elementary in Loxahatchee to help launch the school’s first Biomedical and Veterinary Technology Academy.

The program will provide students in grades K-5 with a medical and veterinary-themed curriculum that will be integrated into their regular syllabus. The curriculum will teach job-specific medical skills and increase student awareness of health-related professions.

Good Samaritan Medical Center is going to supply two of the school’s classrooms with medical equipment and supplies. The hospital will also provide training materials, such as the “OrganWise Guys” curriculum and stethoscopes, so students can learn how to take vital signs.

Additionally, Good Samaritan will sponsor field trips to the hospital and nearby medical facilities. Two trips are currently scheduled to tour the emergency room and a fire truck. Clinical educators from the hospital are also planning to give lectures at the school.
