Dr. Balakrishna Smith, medical director for VITAS® Healthcare, leads the hospice and palliative clinical teams in Miami-Dade, Florida. Drawing on his expertise in end-of-life care, he seeks to continually improve care and enhance quality of life for patients and their families.
Dr. Balakrishna Smith is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine and earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles. Previously, he served as chair of the chiefs of continuing care for Northern California Kaiser Permanente Region and as hospice medical director at Kaiser Permanente Hayward in California.
