The 11th annual Broward Health Ball returned to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood with more than 1,100 community and philanthropic leaders gathered for a remarkable evening in support of Broward Health.

The “Starry Night” event was held on April 20 and raised $1.4 million to further enhance patient care and services at Broward Health. The night included cocktail lounges, silent and live auctions, followed by dinner and dancing. It was emceed by WSVN reporter Alex Miranda.

“We are immensely grateful for the support of our donors and sponsors, whose contributions assist Broward Health in advancing our vision of being a champion for a healthier community,” said Shane Strum, President & CEO of Broward Health. “Their generosity enables Broward Health to deliver exceptional healthcare to all those we serve.”

In addition to the auction and entertainment, the Broward Health Foundation introduced the Stella Award to honor a donor or volunteer who, like a star, is a singular source of light but also works as part of a collective body of stars to evoke change for the Foundation, Broward Health, and the greater Fort Lauderdale and Broward County community. This year’s inaugural recipient of the Stella Award was Linda Haller, executive director of the Haller Foundation.

“Linda was a natural choice for the Stella Award,” said Strum. “In the past year, she has not only served on the Broward Health Foundation board of directors, but also launched a new philanthropic initiative, Friends of Broward Health, which is rallying local leaders to support specific causes for the health system. She’s also active in other non-profits, enhancing healthcare locally and nationally.”
