A lot of people have asked me why I am so passionate about Cannabis and why I took the leap to start Cannabis News Florida. Well here goes …

I have been in and out of the hospital for more than 15 years with chronic blood clots in my legs. I have had a number of surgeries that have kept me off my feet for weeks (even months) at a time. But it all ended with the same thing to make me feel better. OPIODS.  I never imagined my life would be tolerable, if I didn’t have my pain meds to keep me going each day. Was I addicted to them — no. But I could not function because of the pain without them. So one day I headed over to a Cannabis Law event to help my father out, manning his booth and handing out newspapers. (And for that one in a million who doesn’t know who he is — he’s Charles Felix, Publisher, South Florida Hospital News & Healthcare Report.) While at that event I met several people in the CBD business and they said I had to give a try. Of course my first reaction was, “how could I ever completely give up my pain medication.”) I wasn’t convinced. But I went home that night and decided I really had nothing to lose. So I did and in about 45 minutes, my “normal” pain had eased, similar to the way I felt when I had taken an opioid — but without the opiate. Then the next day I told my dad to give it a try for his bad back and he felt also felt the relief. So I can honestly say from that point forward I worked with my doctor to get off all opioids and just use CBD and Medical Cannabis. And for the past year and half, I have not taken cold meds, pain meds, Tylenol or anything except CBD and Cannabis.

So when I say I am passionate about this business, it’s not just to produce a much need industry publication. It is to educate other Floridians on why I feel Cannabis saved my life and took the opioids out of my hand.

Here’s to an amazing 2019 of educating, informing and teaching the Power of Cannabis.
