North Broward Medical Center recently completed the installation of high-speed wireless access transmitters. Now, patients, visitors and physicians can go online with any wireless device, such as a PDA or laptop computer equipped with a wireless card.
Areas within the hospital that offer wireless access include main lobby, waiting rooms, patient rooms and the cafeteria. “We are glad to be able to offer our patients and visitors this convenience,” said Pauline Grant, CEO, North Broward Medical Center. “Today, when people do not have access to computers and e-mail they tend to feel very cut off. That feeling is compounded when you are in the hospital. Now patients and their families will be able to stay in touch better.”
