Delray Medical Center has unveiled an $8.5 million newly-expanded, refurbished and electronically updated Emergency Room designed to facilitate the level of emergency medical care it can provide to patients when immediate treatment typically is most important.
The new department features a more convenient and private admitting area and essentially doubles the size of Delray Medical Centers previous ER, increasing the number of examination rooms from 17 to 35. Each exam room is a private enclosure equipped with a flat screen TV.
The Emergency Departments waiting room also has doubled in size. The area is accented by a unique, in-wall fish tank that has been added to help reduce patient anxiety and distract them from their pain.
Perhaps more important than the Emergency Departments renovated physical elements are the enhancements that patients and their families dont see. Delray Medical Centers new ER incorporates the most up-to-date electronics, including wireless Internet access, and MedHost electronic medical record-keeping to gain access to diagnostic results and help start patients on prescribed treatments as quickly as possible.
Additionally, the new ER offers Fast Track access for patients who arrive with minor injuries and illnesses.
