Dr. Demetrio Castillo is a cardiac electrophysiologist that balances the use of the latest technology to diagnose and treat arrythmias with a patient-centered approach to care. “I feel a responsibility to educate patients about their conditions so they can make informed decisions and not just provide consent. The more they understand the better they’ll be able to take care of themselves,” said Dr. Castillo.
A graduate of New York University’s School of Medicine, Dr. Castillo was a resident at Harvard Medical School before receiving fellowship training in both cardiovascular disease and electrophysiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He was first attracted to cardiology because of the precise nature of the specialty and cites the objective improvements in the patient’s quality of life as the most satisfying aspect of the integrated, multi-disciplinary approach Memorial utilizes.
