August 17, 2023 – Team members from construction firm Robins & Morton recently spent several days in Miami working with future industry professionals at Florida International University College of Engineering and Computing’s She Builds Summer Camp, hosted by the Moss Department of Construction Management.
The five-day camp provided eighth through 12th grade girls with the opportunity to learn from women working in various roles in the construction and engineering industries. Now in its fourth year, the camp is available at no cost to attendees.
Robins & Morton volunteers led several activities during the camp, including a technology presentation where Morty, the company’s SPOT® robot by Boston Dynamics, demonstrated how the firm is using robotics to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. Campers also heard directly from women on the Robins & Morton team during a panel designed to answer questions, discuss experiences, build confidence, and encourage exploring a future career in the industry.
On Day 4 of the camp, Robins & Morton also hosted the students for a jobsite visit to their UHealth at Doral project.
In addition to leading two days of the camp, Robins & Morton was the title sponsor.
