January 29, 2024 – Girl Scout troops from across South Broward County arrived at HCA Florida University Hospital on Sunday to receive their much-anticipated cases of cookies. The collaborative event between HCA Florida Healthcare, the local community, Broward County Public Schools students, including local Broward County Public Schools students aimed to organize and distribute over 185,000 packages of cookies to 50 Girl Scout Troops.
The organized system in place at the hospital, thanks to the dedicated efforts of HCA Florida Healthcare colleagues and community members, produced a smooth process for troop members to pick up their cookie orders.
Expressing gratitude for all of the support, the Product Manager for the Kowechobe Service Unity and Patient Safety Director for HCA Florida University Hospital stated, “It really helps the troops to come here to our hospital to pick up their cookies. It makes their process of delivering the pre-ordered cookies easier. Everyone is arriving with excitement because the cookie sales play a crucial role in supporting troop activities such as camping and other programming.”
Madeline Nava, CEO of HCA Florida University Hospital, expressed her enthusiasm for serving the community as the South Broward Cookie Distribution location. She said, “We are delighted to contribute to the community by hosting this event and being a central hub for the distribution of these thousands of cookies.
HCA Healthcare is a proud supporter of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). The HCA Healthcare Foundation and GSUSA have partnered to develop mental health and mental wellness workshops for girls in grades 4-12. The partnership aims to promote mental wellness and break down the stigma of mental illness.
