March 20, 2024 – HCA Florida University Hospital marked a significant milestone today with the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art interventional radiology (IR) suite. The hospital is responding to the growing healthcare needs of Broward and Miami-Dade counties by increasing surgical care capacity. The new space will allow for increased advanced imaging to treat complex conditions.

“With the expansion, we aim to further elevate our capabilities in diagnosing and treating a wide range of interventional radiology conditions,” said Madeline Nava, CEO at HCA Florida University Hospital. “The IR procedures completed in this new lab will be less invasive, resulting in faster recovery times for our patients.”

The spacious new suite is located in the hospital’s imaging department and is equipped with advanced imaging equipment for increased precision and targeted treatments for greater accuracy.

“This IR suite represents a big achievement for both our hospital and the community at large. From intricate aortic procedures to thrombectomies, the capabilities of this new suite are unparalleled,” said Dr. Jose Rodriguez, Radiology Medical Director at HCA Florida University Hospital.

With a commitment to innovation and excellence, HCA Florida University Hospital has invested $10 million to upgrade the Catheterization (Cath) Suite and the new IR Suite. The construction of the Cath Suite is expected to conclude this spring.
