LaToya Newby joins the Community Impact department
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – April 30, 2024 – A local health professional has joined the American Heart Association Palm Beach County team to support its mission to help residents build longer, healthier lives. LaToya Newby is the team’s new community impact coordinator, who will be working primarily on health initiatives in Riviera Beach.
Newby has a master’s degree in public health epidemiology from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and she previously served as an epidemiologist at the CDC Foundation, a project director at Florida State University and a human services program manager and health educator at the Florida Department of Health.
Executive Director Stacey Comerford said she is excited for the perspective Newby will bring to the team with her public health background.
“With all of the incredible work she’s done with grants and community health, LaToya is really bringing a strong skill set to our team,” Comerford says. “We’re also thrilled to be growing our office’s community impact department, which leads our grassroots health initiatives.”
The American Heart Association Palm Beach County serves the residents of Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties. Staff members, volunteers and donors assist the organization in guiding efforts to reduce the incidences of heart disease and stroke, the first and fifth leading killers, respectively, of American men and women.
