Case Background
On May 6, 2024, Steward Health Care System LLC and 166 of its affiliated debtors (collectively, the “Debtors”) each filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. The cases are pending before the Honorable Christopher M. Lopez and are jointly administered under Case No. 24-90213.
Steward Health Care owns and operates the largest private physician-owned for-profit healthcare network in the United States. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Steward Health Care’s operations include 31 hospitals across eight states, approximately 400 facility locations, 4,500 primary and specialty care physicians, 3,600 staffed beds, and a company-wide workforce of nearly 30,000 employees. Steward Health Care provides care to more than two million patients annually.
This Chapter 11 filing is intended to provide the Company with the access to additional liquidity and protections it needs to maintain operations in the ordinary course and continue to serve patients without disruption. It is Steward’s goal to resolve these issues as quickly as possible, with the help of the court, with a view to the long-term and sustainable financial health of the system.
Steward’s hospitals, medical centers and physician’s offices are open and continuing to serve patients and the broader community.

Important Information & Dates
Meeting of Creditors
In accordance with Section 341 of the Bankruptcy Code, the meeting of the Debtors’ creditors (the “Meeting of Creditors”) will be held on July 23, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. (prevailing Central Time). The Meeting of Creditors will be held telephonically at 1-866-707-5468, Code: 6166997.
The Debtors’ representative must attend the meeting to be questioned under oath. Creditors may attend, but are not required to do so.
Hearing on First Day Motions
A hearing on the Debtors’ first day motions was held on May 7, 2024, before the Honorable Christopher M. Lopez, in Courtroom 401, 4th floor, 515 Rusk Street, Houston, Texas 77002. A final hearing on certain of the First Day Motions will be held on June 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. (prevailing Central Time).
