Novemmer 15, 2024 — The Leapfrog Group announced its Fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grades and all four Lee Health hospitals have earned top marks, with Cape Coral Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital being designated as “Straight A” hospitals for earning an “A” in at least five consecutive Hospital Safety Grade reporting cycles.
Cape Coral Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital all received an “A” grade In today’s announcement and Gulf Coast Medical Center earned a “B.” This marks the 14th straight reporting period that all Lee Health Hospitals have received a grade of a “B” or higher.
HealthPark Medical Center earned an “A” grade for the 12th straight reporting period and Lee Memorial Hospital and Cape Coral Hospital kept their “A” streak going for the fifth consecutive reporting period. Since 2018, Gulf Coast Medical Center has received an “A” in ten reporting periods and has received a “B” three times.
The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization working towards improvement in the quality and safety of healthcare.
The Leapfrog Safety Grade assigns letter grades of “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” and “F” to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms.

Leapfrog’s high standards were developed under the guidance of a national expert panel. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 22 measures of publicly available hospital safety data twice each year to assign grades to nearly 3,000 acute-care hospitals in the United States. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
Children’s hospitals are not included in The Leapfrog Group’s fall grades. However, the Leapfrog Group has named Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida as a Top Children’s Hospital six times.
