As a young person interested in pursuing a medical career, Dr. Beth Helfman didn’t have to look far to find a role model to emulate. Her father, Dr. Howard Helfman, was a physician in Stuart, FL, responsible for many advancements in local cardiology, including establishing the area’s first cath lab.

“My dad was an example of how much impact one person can have in a community,” said Dr. Helfman, whose fellowship training came in Memorial’s Graduate Medical Education program. “He also showed me how cardiology enables a doctor to partner with their patient at all stages of their medical journey.”

Dr. Helfman joined the Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute as an attending doctor in 2025. She most appreciates the family-like atmosphere, saying the relationships between colleagues and the multidisciplinary conversations that result elevate the level of patient care that can be provided.
