May 5, 2026 — HCA Florida Healthcare today announced that HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital is now open to patients, marking a major milestone in expanding access to advanced, patient-centered healthcare in Gainesville and the surrounding region.
The 90-bed, full-service medical and surgical hospital is designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of North Central Florida. Purpose-built with patients and families in mind, the hospital features private patient rooms, including medical/surgical and inpatient rehabilitation rooms, along with advanced imaging, diagnostic testing and minimally invasive and robotic surgical capabilities.

HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital is the first full-service hospital to open in the region in more than 50 years. The $235 million investment is expected to create at least 250 new jobs, supporting the local economy while enhancing healthcare access throughout the region. Gainesville Mayor Harvey Ward emphasized the hospital’s impact on the broader community.
