Hundreds expected to gather on World Mental Health Day, October 10, 2026, at Nova Southeastern University
September 3, 2026 – NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Broward is celebrating a record level of support for their upcoming NAMIWalks Broward fundraiser, highlighting the community’s growing commitment to mental health awareness, education and support for those with mental health conditions. The annual Walk will take place on World Mental Health Day, Saturday, October 10, 2026, beginning at 8 a.m. at Nova Southeastern University. Recognized as one of the nation’s Top 30 Peer-to-Peer Fundraisers, NAMIWalks Broward brings the community together to raise critical funds, break down stigma and remind those impacted by mental health conditions that they are not alone.
Premier Sponsors for NAMIWalks Broward reached an all‑time high this year, representing a wide range of sectors that support mental health and community wellbeing — including fitness and wellness, higher education, community service, substance abuse recovery, mental health care, and financial stability. NAMI Broward extends special recognition to AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Evolutions Treatment Center, Midtown Athletic Club, Modera Wealth, Nova Southeastern University, and the Rotary Club of Weston for their leadership and commitment to strengthening mental health in Broward County.
“Our sponsors are more than supporters of NAMIWalks, they are community leaders investing in NAMI Broward for a healthier, more supportive Broward County year-round,” said Lara Underwood, CEO of NAMI Broward. “Their commitment helps us expand free mental health resources, break down stigma and ensure more individuals and families know they are not alone and that help is available.”
NAMI Broward relies on the generosity of sponsors, walk teams, and individual participants to make its annual NAMIWalks event a success that lasts throughout the year. Through support, NAMI Broward has been able to expand its free mental health resources including new support groups for women, men and young adults; StigmaFree presentations in workplaces; mental health education in schools; and accessible, sustainable community programs that provide education, connection and support to those who need it most.
“The generous support of our sponsors and walkers who help raise funds for NAMI Broward helps fuel our continued growth,” said Melanie Hoffman, Walk Manager. “Together, we can strengthen the continuum of care and ensure individuals have access to support long after treatment ends.”
With the support of all sponsors, NAMIWalks Broward is set to make an even greater impact in breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
