September 30, 2026 — The Miami-Dade County Medical Association (MDCMA) announced today that its 2026-2027 President, Julie Lynn Kantor, M.D., F.A.A.P., has been appointed as a Member At-Large of The Children’s Trust Board of Directors, strengthening the representation of healthcare and pediatric expertise in an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families throughout Miami-Dade County.
Dr. Kantor joined The Children’s Trust Board in September 2026. She brings more than two decades of clinical experience in pediatrics, along with extensive experience in medical education, mentorship and community leadership. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and a pediatric attending physician in the Emergency Room at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She was born and raised in Miami and attended Miami Dade College and Florida International University before earning her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
The Children’s Trust partners with the community to plan, advocate for and fund strategic investments that improve the lives of all children and families in Miami-Dade County. Its goal is to foster a community that works together to provide the essential foundations that enable children and youth to achieve their full potential.
The Children’s Trust is governed by a 33-member volunteer Board of Directors designed to represent leadership and expertise from across Miami-Dade County. The Board is defined by Florida statute, with many seats subject to term limits. Its responsibilities include determining The Children’s Trust budget and millage rate and guiding investments and initiatives at publicly noticed meetings.
As a pediatrician, educator and longtime member of the Miami-Dade community, Dr. Kantor brings a perspective grounded in the health, development and well-being of children and families.

Dr. Kantor’s appointment also complements her leadership of the Miami-Dade County Medical Association, where she is serving as President for 2026-2027. Under her leadership, the MDCMA continues to focus on physician engagement, advocacy, professional development, wellness and strengthening the connection between physicians and the communities they serve.
Dr. Kantor’s appointment represents an opportunity to further connect the perspectives of pediatric medicine, medical education and community leadership with the work of The Children’s Trust as it continues investing in initiatives designed to support children and families across Miami-Dade County.
