October 8, 2026 – Baptist Health has named new officers and members to the Board of Directors of the health system, Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, Baptist Medical Center South, Baptist Medical Center Beaches and Baptist Medical Center Nassau. The health system also welcomes new members to the Board of Managers of Baptist Physician Partners (BPP) – its physician-led, clinically integrated network providing coordinated, high-quality care to patients – and to Baptist Physician Partners ACO, a subsidiary of BPP focused on caring for patients with Medicare. The new appointees will serve three-year terms.

As Northeast Florida’s only locally governed, faith-based, not-for-profit health care system, Baptist Health is guided by volunteer boards of local leaders, Baptist Health professionals and physicians who bring clinical expertise, operational perspective and oversight of quality and safety. Their collective skills, knowledge and experience strengthen the organization’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality care and improving the health and well-being of those residing in Northeast Florida.

Baptist Health

The newly appointed member to the health system’s Board of Directors is:

Richard T. Ray has served as the CEO of The PARC Group for the past 25 years. The real estate development firm, which is behind many of Northeast Florida’s leading communities, was named Developer of the Year by the Northeast Florida Builders Association for 12 consecutive years. Before joining PARC, he was an advisor for corporate mergers and acquisitions and held executive roles with several publicly traded companies. Ray has also served on the Board of Baptist Medical Center South. He holds a BS and an MBA from the University of North Florida.

Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville

The three new members to Baptist Jacksonville’s Board of Directors are:

Karen Mitchell Curran has extensive experience advising and delivering practical, strategic and regulatory solutions to public, private and private equity-backed clients within the health care, health insurance and manufacturing fields. She spent 38 years at KPMG LLP, where she led client and market teams across South Florida and managed more than 200 professionals in audit, tax and consulting before retiring in 2025 as managing partner of the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office. She has also been active in the community, holding leadership and governance roles with various community and philanthropic organizations. She received her BS and MA in Accounting from the University of Florida.

David Garfunkel is chief program officer for the Jacksonville Civic Council, where he oversees advocacy, research and execution programming in pursuit of its vision for Jacksonville to be a world-class destination of choice. Previously, he served as the founding president & CEO of LIFT JAX, where he led coalition-driven efforts to eradicate generational poverty on Jacksonville’s Historic Eastside through a holistic, place-based strategy focused on housing, education, wellness and economic opportunity. Earlier in his career, he worked with FSG, the Peace Corps and Fonkoze in Haiti, building expertise in collective impact, microfinance and social innovation. Garfunkel has a Master’s in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor’s in Spanish and Management from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota.

Jason Spencer is a banking executive and specialist in middle markets who currently serves as a senior vice president of Middle Market Banking at Regions Bank in Jacksonville. He previously spent more than 15 years at Wells Fargo, most recently serving as senior vice president of Middle Market Banking for the North Florida region. His accomplishments resulted in being recognized as a “40 Under 40” leader by the Jacksonville Business Journal in 2021. Spencer also serves on the board of several nonprofit organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida, Goodwill Industries of North Florida and Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens. He earned a BA in Economics from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.

Baptist Medical Center South

The newly appointed officer and member to the Board of Directors of  Baptist South are:

Marcy Stoudt (vice chair) is the founder and CEO of REVEL, a leadership and talent advisory firm that helps CEOs and growth-stage companies strengthen leadership, culture and organizational performance through executive search, leadership advisory and executive coaching. Marcy joined the Baptist South board in 2021 and replaces Richard T. Ray as vice chair.

Bryan Hassel is the executive vice president of Finance at iMethods, where he leads all financial operations and helps guide the health care IT consulting firm’s growth and performance strategy. With more than 16 years of experience working with health care systems across the country, he has a practical understanding of how technology decisions affect clinical operations, patient experience and financial outcomes. A Jacksonville native, he is active in his church and community and has deep personal ties to Baptist Health and Baptist South. His father was a cardiologist for 35 years with Baptist Health and all four of his children were born at Baptist South. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Finance from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.

Baptist Medical Center Beaches

The newly appointed chair and vice chair to the Board of Directors of Baptist Beaches are:

Christine Hoffman (chair) is the current Mayor of Jacksonville Beach, as well as the executive director of the Beaches Museum. She joined the board of Baptist Beaches in 2020 and replaces Keli Coughlin Joyce as chair.

Brian Bucher (vice chair) worked in the financial services industry at PCN Financial Services Group, Inc. for 40 years before retiring from his position as regional manager for North Florida in 2022. He joined the board of Baptist Beaches in 2020 and replaces Christine Hoffman as vice chair.

Baptist Medical Center Nassau

The newly appointed chair, vice chair and members to the Board of Directors of Baptist Nassau are:

Jodi Henson (chair) is an executive, educator and small business strategist whose more than three-decade career spans corporate leadership roles at MCI, BellSouth and Incentium, Inc., franchise ownership and economic development. She joined the board of Baptist Nassau in 2018 and replaces Karen Hackett.

Michael Howington, MD, (vice chair) is an anesthesiologist with Baptist Health who has been practicing for 30 years. He joined the board of Baptist Nassau in 2019 and replaces Jodi Henson as vice chair.

Ginny Burnet is a respected business and community leader in Nassau County with extensive experience in human resources.  She spent the early part of her career working for her family’s company, Rex Corporation, and then went on to work for Sourcing Interests Group, a global sourcing association. Her community involvement has earned her several honors, including the Mainsail Award from the Fernandina Beach High School Foundation, which recognized her continued dedication to the foundation and its programs, and the Volunteer of the Year Award from Care Centers of Nassau. She received a BA from Jacksonville University.

James Staton Jr. is an executive coach and business consultant with more than 30 years of leadership experience in corporate and government management. In 2018, he founded Staton & Associates, LLC, a firm dedicated to helping executives and community members discover their untapped potential to live fuller, more productive and joyous lives. A highly respected Black American community leader, he champions local history, culture and community identity. He is a strong advocate for preserving American Beach, a culturally significant African American community in Nassau County, and serves as president of the American Beach Property Owners Association. He also serves on the boards of Friends of American Beach, the Nassau County Council on Aging and the A. L. Lewis Black Opportunity and Impact Fund.

Baptist Physician Partners, LLC

The three new members to the Board of Managers of Baptist Physician Partners are:

John K. Anderson Jr. (hospital manager) is a financial executive and managing partner of Anderson Financial Partners, Inc., an independent investment consulting firm serving corporations, nonprofit organizations, high-net-worth families and family foundations. His connection to Baptist Health spans more than 40 years, including serving as executive vice president and chief financial officer of the health system in the late 1980s and later as chair of the board of directors of Baptist Beaches. Anderson received a BA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Hiram A. Carrasquillo, MD, (physician manager) is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. Before joining Orthopedic Specialists of Jacksonville, he was with Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute for over 30 years. He formerly served as Chief of Staff at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville. A specialist in foot and ankle sports injuries, ankle replacements and general orthopedic surgery, Dr. Carrasquillo has collaborated on the care of athletes with the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars, the Jacksonville Sharks, Jacksonville University and others. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and Florida National Guard for 13 years. He received a BS in Chemistry, and Doctor of Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery specialty from the University of Puerto Rico and completed a Foot and Ankle Fellowship under G. James Sammarco, MD, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Elizabeth “Beth” Tibbs (hospital manager) is senior vice president of operations for Baptist Medical Group, where she oversees day-to-day administrative operations, develops new operational strategies, negotiates physician contracts and integrates new offices into the network. She joined Baptist Health in 2024, having worked previously at Prisma Health medical group in Greenville, South Carolina, and at Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She received her MA in Human Resources and her BS in Healthcare Administration from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas.

Baptist Physician Partners ACO

The newly appointed members to the Board of Managers of Baptist Physician Partners ACO are:

Eric Fletcher, MBA, FACHE, (hospital manager) has more than 30 years of leadership experience in non-profit, community-based health care. He joined Baptist Health in 2025 as executive vice president and chief strategy officer where he collaborates with leadership to design and execute a strategic roadmap that aligns with the health system’s mission and long-term vision, helps the organization remain agile and responsive to the community’s evolving health needs and champions initiatives that increase access to care and enhance patient satisfaction. He previously served as senior vice president and CSO of Mary Washington Healthcare in Virginia. Fletcher earned a BA in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MBA from Elon University

Michael W. Schriver, Jr., MD, (physician manager) is a board-certified family medicine physician with Baptist Primary Care. He serves as the medical director for Ambulatory (Electronic Medical Records) EMR at Baptist Primary Care and chair of Baptist Physician Partners’ Clinical Transformation Council. He was also the medical director at Penney Farms Retirement Community in Clay County. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Institute of Functional Medicine. His activities within the community include serving as a volunteer football physician at Middleburg High School. He earned a BS in Biology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine.
