October 19, 2026 – Vascular surgeon Sarah Talebagha, M.D., has joined Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, part of Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care. Dr. Talebagha specializes in the evaluation and treatment of vascular conditions using both open surgical and minimally invasive endovascular approaches.
Before joining Baptist Health, Dr. Talebagha practiced with Kaiser Permanente in Northern California, caring for patients in San Rafael, San Francisco and South San Francisco. She completed a vascular surgery fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where she received advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of arterial and venous disease.
“Dr. Talebagha’s background in vascular surgery, endovascular treatment and clinical research will be a meaningful addition to our team,” said Tom C. Nguyen, M.D., system chief executive of Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care, chief medical executive of Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, director of minimally invasive surgery, Barry T. Katzen Endowed Chair at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, and chair and professor of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. “Her vascular and endovascular training, dedication to research, and commitment to thoughtful, patient-centered care will strengthen the comprehensive services we provide to our community.”
Dr. Talebagha’s clinical and academic interests include complex arterial and venous disease, limb ischemia, aortic aneurysms and pathologies, and complex wound care. Her research has examined outcomes following endovascular aneurysm repair and the effects of chronic lung disease on aneurysm growth and mortality. She has also presented research involving venous recanalization and stenting, central venous occlusion, acute limb ischemia and multidisciplinary wound care.
“Patients with vascular disease often benefit from close coordination among several specialties,” said Sanjeev K. Gulati, M.D., executive deputy director of Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care and system chief of cardiovascular medicine. “Dr. Talebagha’s experience with both surgical and endovascular approaches will enhance that coordination and help our teams tailor care to each patient’s condition and goals.”
Dr. Talebagha earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia. She completed her general surgery residency at Prisma Health/University of South Carolina before completing her vascular surgery fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, and she has presented at regional and national scientific meetings. In addition to her medical training, she holds a master’s degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Emory University in Atlanta.
“In welcoming Dr. Talebagha, we support our efforts to grow vascular services and connect more patients with specialized care,” said Ashford Denman, system vice president of operations of Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care. “Her clinical background and commitment to working across disciplines will be valuable as we continue meeting the needs of patients and referring physicians.”
Dr. Talebagha believes high-quality care begins with listening. She takes time to understand each patient’s concerns, goals and priorities, provides explanations of diagnoses and treatment choices, and answers questions so that patients and their families can make informed decisions and feel confident in their care. She approaches each patient as an individual, tailoring treatment recommendations to their unique clinical circumstances while prioritizing safety, long-term health and quality of life.
Dr. Talebagha will see patients at 8950 N. Kendall Drive, Suite 504W, Miami. To schedule an appointment, call 786-595-0555.
