Palliative care is now more accessible in Palm Beach County with the opening of South Florida Palliative Medicine Specialists (SFPMS).Faustino Gonzalez, M.D., FAAHPM, was named Vice President of Medical Affairs for South Florida Palliative Medicine Specialists. Gonzalez, whose specialties are internal and palliative medicine, has provided palliative care to patients for more than a decade. He is certified by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine; American Board of Internal Medicine; ABIM, Subspecialty in Hospice and Palliative Medicine; and has been awarded the degree of Fellow by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Also named to the leadership team are Richard S. Levene, DO, FAAFP, FAAHPM; and Susan M. Koff, ARNP, ACHPN. Levene, who will serve as Medical Director, has an extensive background in palliative medicine. In addition to his role with SFPMS, Dr. Levene is director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program in Palm Beach County. Koff will serve as Palliative Care Clinical Manager. She is board certified as an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse by the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Board of Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses.
