November 13 2020 – The American Medical Association (AMA) honored Tenna Wiles, chief executive officer of the Palm Beach County Medical Society (PBCMS), with the Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award. “A champion for patients and physicians, Tenna Wiles is a medical association executive respected for her dedication to all aspects of the medical profession,” said AMA Board Chair Russ Kridel, M.D. “During a career spanning twenty years, she has led the development of volunteer programs that have benefitted the community and inspired physicians. It is an honor to recognize her countless achievements on behalf of physicians, patients and community members alike.”
As CEO of PBCMS, Wiles partnered with physician volunteers to develop and implement seven different programs spanning needs such as care coordination, preventative care, physician leadership development and addressing physician burnout. Many of these programs were established thanks to the development of Palm Beach County Medical Society Services, a sister organization that allows local community members to actively engage with physician leaders. Wiles also demonstrated great success in partnering with community groups, government agencies and other healthcare entities to promote the art and science of medicine.
The AMA presented the award to Wiles during the November 2020 Special Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates.
