Nicole De Leon will lead the Development department
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – August 20, 2024 – A seasoned nonprofit professional has joined the American Heart Association Palm Beach County team to support its mission to help residents build longer, healthier lives. Nicole De Leon is the team’s new vice president of development, and she will lead the fundraising efforts of the office.
De Leon has been in the nonprofit field for more than 15 years, including work with both local and national organizations such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Little Smiles and March of Dimes, where she served most recently as senior executive director.
She was drawn to the American Heart Association in part because of her family’s experience with heart disease.
“Having watched my own mother battle congestive heart failure, I know the importance of advocating for heart health,” De Leon says. “I’ve seen firsthand the impact this organization has had on improving and saving lives, and I’m ready to be a part of its next 100 years of work.”
Executive Director Stacey Comerford said she is looking forward to the creative ideas De Leon can bring to the team.
“Nicole has a strong history of working with sponsors and donors to move the mission of her organizations forward,” Comerford says. “We’re looking forward to her perspective and her help in raising awareness of heart disease and stroke in our community.”
The American Heart Association Palm Beach County serves the residents of Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties. Staff members, volunteers and donors assist the organization in guiding efforts to reduce the incidences of heart disease and stroke, which are the Nos. 1 and 5 leading causes of death of Americans.
