August 6, 2026  — This week HCA Florida Oak Hill welcomes new Chief Operating Officer (COO) Matt Johnston, MHA.

Johnston brings more than 16 years of healthcare leadership experience to Oak Hill Hospital. Most recently, he served as COO for four years at HCA Florida Trinity Hospital, where he helped drive operational efficiencies, oversaw the construction and opening of a new free-standing emergency room in Sunlake, and aligned business operations across the hospital and affiliated outpatient care sites to best serve patients, physicians and the community.

Prior to his role at Trinity Hospital, Johnston served as Vice President of Operations at The Medical Center of Aurora in Colorado. Additionally, he has held progressive leadership roles including Administrator of Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital, Perioperative Business Manager at The Medical Center of Aurora, Supply Chain Director at Rose Medical Center in Denver and Administrative Resident at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He earned his bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University and a Master of Health Administration degree at Virginia Commonwealth University.

 August 6, 2026 – HCA Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE:HCA) today announced that Michael Schlosser, M.D., MBA, senior vice president and chief transformation officer, has been appointed executive vice president and chief clinical officer, effective Sept. 1, 2026.

Also, effective Sept. 1, Charles Gressle, president of HCA Healthcare’s East Florida Division, has been appointed president of HCA Healthcare’s new Ambulatory Operations Group.

Dr. Schlosser will succeed Dr. Michael Cuffe, who announced in June that he will step down as executive vice president and chief clinical officer, effective Aug. 31.

In his new role, Dr. Schlosser will report to Sam Hazen, chief executive officer of HCA Healthcare, and assume responsibility for the company’s Clinical Services Group, which includes Quality, hospital Chief Medical Officers, Nursing, Graduate Medical Education, Hospital Based Services and other enterprise clinical functions. He will continue to lead HCA Healthcare’s Digital Transformation and Innovation organization and oversee the company’s clinical informatics organization and enterprise strategy for electronic health records, digital technologies and data platforms.

“Mike is a trusted physician leader whose experience and commitment to our mission have strengthened our organization,” said Hazen. “He has played an important role in advancing our clinical and digital capabilities, and his expanded responsibilities will extend the impact of that work more fully across HCA Healthcare as we continue integrating innovation, AI technology solutions and clinical excellence to improve care for our patients.”

Before assuming his current role, Dr. Schlosser served as group chief medical officer for HCA Healthcare’s National Group and vice president of clinical excellence and surgical services for the Clinical Services Group. Earlier in his career, he served as chief medical officer for HealthTrust and chief of staff at TriStar Centennial Medical Center.

Dr. Cuffe will continue to serve HCA Healthcare as an executive consultant through February 2027 to support the leadership transition.

Gressle will be responsible for HCA Healthcare’s Physician Services Group, which includes Urgent Care operations and Physician Practice Operations. In addition, Gressle will oversee HCA Healthcare’s Surgery Ventures Group and other corporate service line and support functions. The group, which includes more than 2,700 facilities and clinics, is designed to strengthen integration across the company’s growing ambulatory network and enhance coordination in support of patients, physicians and caregivers.

“Charles is a proven leader with deep operational experience and a strong track record of building high-performing teams,” said Hazen. “As we build out our networks to meet the growing demand for our services, this new structure allows for better network integration with more service line focus, and most importantly, it makes it easier for our patients to navigate our systems.”

Searches for successors to Dr. Schlosser’s and Gressle’s current roles are underway.

Broward HealthPoint and Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center provided free immunizations, school supplies, uniforms, essential community resources and more

August 7, 2026 – More than 1,000 children and family members across Broward County kicked off the new school year prepared thanks to two annual back-to-school celebrations hosted by Broward HealthPoint and Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC), affiliates of Broward Health.

During both events, students and their families were provided with free school-required immunizations, backpacks, school uniforms, nutritious meals, educational resources and connections to community services, helping ease the financial burden on families while ensuring students are healthy and ready to learn.

During Broward HealthPoint’s annual Back to School Jamboree at the Cora E. Braynon Care Center in Fort Lauderdale, more than 600 children and family members enjoyed free meals, entertainment, family activities and access to healthcare services, educational resources and family support from 10 community partners and more than 100 volunteers. In addition, nearly 100 children received school-required immunizations, 400 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed and 760 hot meals were served.

Families with special needs children also attended the annual Back to School Resource Fair at CDTC. During the fair, 400 of their most in-need children and their siblings received free school uniforms, backpacks filled with supplies and valuable community resources tailored to families of children with special healthcare needs. They enjoyed visits from Stanley C. Panther, mascot of the Florida Panthers, face painting provided by Florida Girls Giving Back and a custom photo booth. They also received water safety and drowning prevention education from the Florida Department of Health, and members of Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department helped distribute school supplies and uniforms while moms and caregivers took home complimentary costume jewelry.

National recognition affirms TGH Crystal River’s sustained commitment to delivering rapid, lifesaving cardiac care for residents of Citrus County and surrounding communities.  

AUGUST 5, 2026 – Tampa General Hospital Crystal River has earned its latest renewal of Chest Pain Center Reaccreditation with Primary PCI from the American College of Cardiology (ACC), a nationally recognized distinction reflecting the hospital’s continued delivery of high-quality, evidence-based cardiac care. The hospital first applied for Chest Pain Center Accreditation in December 2016 and, following the ACC’s initial application and site review process, received accreditation recognition in 2018. Since then, the hospital has maintained the credential through successive renewal cycles. The latest renewal extends the hospital’s accreditation through June 2029.

Primary PCI, or Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, is a minimally invasive procedure used to quickly open blocked coronary arteries during a heart attack. Often referred to as emergency angioplasty, the procedure restores blood flow to the heart, minimizing damage to the heart muscle and improving patient outcomes. Reaccreditation with Primary PCI recognizes hospitals that maintain the personnel, processes and capabilities necessary to deliver this time-sensitive treatment consistently and at the highest standard.

Following its latest comprehensive review, ACC Accreditation Services determined that Tampa General Hospital Crystal River successfully met all requirements for continued Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI. The ACC also commended the hospital’s multidisciplinary cardiovascular team for its dedication to continuous quality improvement and patient care.

“This reaccreditation reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring patients in Citrus County and the surrounding region have access to exceptional cardiac care close to home,” said Linda Stockton, senior vice president and president of Tampa General Crystal River. “It recognizes the extraordinary teamwork among our emergency physicians, nurses, cardiac specialists, EMS partners and rehabilitation professionals who work together every day to provide timely, lifesaving care,” Stockton said.

The ACC highlighted several strengths during its review, including:
• Comprehensive STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) response drills conducted across multiple care settings.
• Strong collaboration with emergency medical services and a focus on continuous performance improvement.
• Community outreach and education efforts focused on heart health awareness, CPR training and early recognition of heart attack and stroke symptoms.
• Expansion of advanced cardiovascular services, including CardioMEMS monitoring and Impella-supported care.
• Consistent achievement of national benchmarks for rapid treatment of heart attack patients.

August 6, 2026 – Board-certified internal medicine physician Zachary Daily, D.O., has joined Baptist Health Primary Care. He specializes in preventive medicine and the treatment of chronic health issues, including musculoskeletal disorders, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity-related illnesses. He also has a special interest in men’s health and incorporating healthy lifestyle changes as part of patient care.

Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Daily completed his internal medicine residency training at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. During his training, he participated in community outreach efforts focused on preventive health education and screenings for underserved populations.
