Free, walk-up COVID-19 vaccinations are available to adults and children as young as 12 at the Health Care District of Palm Beach County’s mobile clinic sites listed below. Those vaccinated can receive a $10 voucher for grocery shopping courtesy of the Florida Department of Health. No appointment is needed. Individuals 12 to 17 years old must be with a parent or a guardian to be vaccinated. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue personnel are administering the vaccinations.

Drive-through COVID-19 testing is now available behind Lakeside Medical Center at 39200 Hooker Highway in Belle Glade from 9 am to 5 pm seven days a week, excluding federal holidays. To date, the Health Care District has provided over 219,000 COVID-19 vaccinations countywide.

Local businesses and organizations interested in hosting the Health Care District’s mobile vaccination clinic for their employees and clients can visit www.hcdpbc.org, click the purple “Mobile Clinic Vaccination & Community Event Request” button and submit the completed form for review and approval.

The Health Care District provides COVID-19 vaccinations to patients during regular doctors’ office visits at all of the nine C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinic sites across the county, which are located in areas of need. Appointments can be made by calling 561-642-1000.

September 17, 2021 – Golisano Children’s Hospital’s Mobile Pediatric Vaccination Clinic will be making stops around Southwest Florida next week to vaccinate children 12 years-old and older for COVID-19.

The Mobile Pediatric Vaccination Clinic is walk-up only, and there is no cost for the COVID-19 vaccine, which will be Pfizer.

The mobile clinic will be at the following locations next week:

September 17 2021 – Hanley Foundation, the nonprofit statewide leader in adolescent substance use prevention and education, has announced Clarice Redding Louis as the Foundation’s new Chief Recovery Community Officer.

Hanley Foundation envisions a world free of addiction, leading the way as the largest provider of educational programs that prevent underage drinking in the State of Florida. In addition to offering treatment scholarships to those in need and facilitating trainings to identify the signs of substance misuse, the Foundation works to reduce stigma and change policy through its advocacy efforts. The Foundation’s mission is to eliminate addiction through prevention, advocacy, and recovery support.

In her new role, Louis will focuson establishing Hanley Foundation’s legislative priorities, assisting in opening a recovery community center, supporting the update of Palm Beach County’s response to the opioid crisis, and overseeing the design of evidence-informed practices to help individuals sustain long-term recovery. She will also assist the Chief Development Officer with administering the Lifesaver Scholarships and securing grants for the Foundation.

“Clarice has many qualities that make her an asset to our team,” said Jan Cairnes, CEO for Hanley Foundation. “She has years of leadership experience in community organizations, social justice advocacy, human services and the child welfare sector. Above all, she leads with empathy, which is crucial to the sensitive nature of our work. We are proud and excited to have her on board.”

Most recently, Louis was the Director of Community Services for Vita Nova, Inc. in West Palm Beach, a human services organization serving 200 families. During her time there, she oversaw the logistics management, team infrastructure, program design, grants management and community outreach. She graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Intercultural Communication as well as a Master of Education Leadership degree. She is currently pursuing an Educational Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

She is a past President of the Urban League Young Professionals of Palm Beach and Immediate Past Co-Director of New Leaders Council of Palm Beach. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She resides in West Palm Beach with her husband Elton.

Each of Lee Health’s Skilled Nursing Facilities Earn Five Stars from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

September 17, 2021 – The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released their most recent Five-Star Quality Ratings, awarding Gulf Coast Medical Center Skilled Nursing, HealthPark Care & Rehabilitation Center and Lee Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing with five stars.

CMS created the five-star system – the gold standard in quality and safety rankings – to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare health care facilities. CMS ranks facilities from one to five stars.

The Gulf Coast Medical Center Skilled Nursing Unit, HealthPark Care & Rehabilitation Center and Lee Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit each received top scores in ‘Overall Quality’ in the five-star ratings report from CMS.

The Gulf Coast Medical Center Skilled Nursing Unit and Lee Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit also received five stars across the board in all categories (Health Inspection, Quality Measures, Staffing and RN Staffing).
