June 30, 2021 – FoundCare, a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with locations throughout Palm Beach County, Fla., is one of the first FQHCs in the state to implement digital health solutions to improve patient care. FoundCare began using WITHmyDOC’s RPM@Home™ System in February to provide remote patient monitoring (RPM) services to 250 patients with hypertension and diabetes.

RPM allows healthcare providers to review patients’ biometric data as frequently as needed between office visits, making it easier to detect, diagnose and treat symptoms.  WITHmyDOC’s RPM@Home System uses a web-based intelligence platform to monitor patients and transmit real-time data to facilitate proactive intervention.
 
Utilizing private grant funding to initiate the program, FoundCare is able to provide the highest quality of care incorporating the latest digital technology to its patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Incorporating RPM into chronic disease management of patients with co-morbidities can significantly improve patients’ quality of life by preventing complications.

June 30, 2021 – Holy Cross Health is now offering the Pfizer vaccine to all who are 12 years and older. 
 
Holy Cross Health is accepting walk-in clients 12 years old and older at its COVID Vaccine Center Monday – Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 4701 N. Federal Highway,Building C, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308. Anyone interested can fill in the vaccine consent for Dose 1 in advance. Eligible minors must be accompanied by a parent and provide proof of age.   
 
Appointments are also available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Those interested or for further information, the Vaccine Center can be reached between 8-4pm Monday – Friday at  954-542-2650.
 
“We expect to see an increase in vaccines for this age group, particularly ahead of the next school year so now is a good time to come in for the vaccine,” said Mark Doyle, President and CEO of Holy Cross Health. 
 
In order to return to school on August 18th fully vaccinated (including the 2 weeks following vaccine), your child should receive his/her first vaccine by July 14th. 
 
Second doses will be scheduled after the first dose is received. However, anyone needing a second Pfizer vaccine is welcome to walk-in Monday-Friday between 8am and 2pm.

June 30 2021 – Exciting news coming out of Tallahassee last night. Governor Ron DeSantis has officially vetoed legislation that would have ended Florida’s no-fault law. Critics argued the bill would raise insurance rates for Florida drivers.
 
Senate Bill 54 finally made its way to the Governor’s desk on Monday. The proposed bill would end the requirement that Florida residents purchase $10,000 in PIP coverage and in place would require mandatory bodily injury coverage that would pay out up to $25,000 for a crash-related injury or death.
 
In the Governor’s veto letter, he says, "While the PIP system has flaws and Florida law regarding bad faith is deficient … SB 54 does not adequately address the current issues facing Florida drivers and may have unintended consequences that would negatively impact both the market and consumers.”

Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital welcomes board-certified oncologist Elizabeth Tan-Chiu, M.D.

Dr. Tan-Chiu earned her medical degree at Far Eastern University in Manila. She completed residency programs at University of Philippines-Philippines General Hospital and University of Massachusetts Health Care-Memorial. She completed the fellowship program in hematology and oncology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
 
Prior to joining Indian River Hospital, Dr. Tan-Chiu served as Associate Director of Medical Oversight for National Surgical Breast and Bowel Project, an NCI-funded research organization. She headed her own private practice and research organization in Plantation, FL. She served as Principal Investigator, drug development advisor, and lecturer. 


Florida Atlantic University’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing welcomed Timothy G. Snow, president of the George Snow Scholarship Fund, to its advisory board.
