The Dynamic Episodic Network patent further solidifies the Company’s position as an innovation center, and it significantly advances the Company closer to completing its “core” Intellectual Property (IP), which defines its “Technology-Infused Healthcare™” model. This patent joins a cadre of other patents that each define critical technology interfaces supporting remote patient monitoring and care, data analytics for patient and population health, healthcare data management and processing, augmented reality, artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain.
 
This patent completes another portion of the core healthcare delivery model by providing a key link with AI and remote patient care, predictive data analytics, and what the Company calls its ‘secret weapon,’ the Qx2™/Qx3™ patents. These patents focus on population and individual wellness through the management of de-identified patient and population data that provide the basis to create a type of “FICO®” wellness score for individuals or population segments.
 
The Dynamic Episodic Network patent extends the concepts advanced by the Qx2/Qx3, as well as other patents further by defining unique and critical “episodes” or sequences that exist prior to many patient incidents, including a hypoglycemic attack, Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) or for example, a myocardial infarction (MI or heart attack). May 13, 2021 – With the recent approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for 12-15 year-olds, Lee Health is now offering appointments to this age group.
 
Beginning today, anyone 12 years-old and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine at Lee Health. You can schedule your appointment by visiting www.leehealth.org. You do not need to be a Lee Health patient; the clinic is open to everyone in the community.
 
“It is so important to get our kids in to get the COVID-19 vaccine, so that we can get as many students vaccinated as possible before the next school year starts,” said Dr. Larry Antonucci, president and chief executive officer of Lee Health. “We are urging all parents to please bring their children in to get this potentially life-saving vaccine.”
Appointments are available as early as today. A parent or authorized guardian must accompany a minor for vaccination. 
“As a pediatric infectious diseases physician, I really want to encourage parents to vaccinate their children for COVID-19 as soon as they’re able,” said Dr. Stephanie Stovall, Interim Chief of Quality and Patient Safety for Lee Health. “We have years of research and data on this type of vaccine, and it is safe and effective.”
 
All self-scheduling appointments must be made online, and Lee Health kindly asks that you not to call our hospitals or physician offices to inquire about vaccine appointments as it overwhelms our phone system and keeps others from reaching us for their care. 
 
A mask is required to enter any Lee Health facility.

May is National Cancer Research Month 
 
Overcoming the numerous obstacles imposed by the pandemic, The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research displayed their indomitable spirit during their May Presidents Zoom meeting when they announced a $2 million donation to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The nonprofit has made numerous multimillion dollar donations to support research at South Florida’s only NCI Designated cancer center; however, this year’s gift required tremendous determination and innovative fundraising.

“I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the way our board and our 20,000 members rallied during these difficult times,” said Susan Dinter, chair of The Pap Corps.  “While COVID-19 stopped many things, it did not stop cancer or our members! I am so proud of the incredible resourcefulness of our wonderful volunteers and am thrilled that during National Cancer Research Month we were able to make this substantial donation.”
 
Pap Corps members, throughout all 50 chapters, created virtual versions of their usual fundraisers and also developed new strategies, events and campaigns to raise money. In addition, the launch of the Giving Train monthly donation program, brick and bench sales at The Garden of Hope in Deerfield Beach and the growth of events in Palm Beach helped the organization develop new paths for fundraising.
 
During the Zoom meeting, Dr. Stephen Nimer, Director of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center spoke to the members and thanked them for their commitment and generosity. 
“While we were unable to gather in person for this check presentation, I know everyone felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment,” stated Sally Berenzweig, who assumed the role of CEO in January 2021 “Working with these incredible volunteers during the past months has truly been an inspiration, and I look forward to what we will achieve during the months ahead.”

Since its founding in 1952, The Pap Corps has donated more than $110 million to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, including a historic $50 million pledge in 2016 dedicating The Pap Corps Campus at Sylvester in Deerfield Beach. The Pap Corps derives its name from Dr. George Papanicolaou, a pioneer in cytopathology and early cancer detection, who introduced the world to the revolutionary ‘Pap’ test. A small group of women began the organization to support his efforts, and over the decades it has grown into an organization of over 20,000 men and women, in over 50 chapters, who raise funds to support all types of cancers.
 
 
 


May 10, 2021 – Community Health of South Florida Inc. (CHI) is pleased to announce the kickoff of its 50-year anniversary celebrations with festivities in recognition of Patient Appreciation Day. Taking place at 10:30am, Wednesday, May 12, CHI’s Patient Appreciation Ceremony will bring together its staff, most tenured patients, and members of the community. The celebration will show appreciation for the health center’s patients whose families have been with CHI for decades, while also recognizing the 50-year commitment CHI has made to serving the critical health care needs of some of South Florida’s most underserved communities.
 
In 1971, Doris Ison established the start of what would one day be Community Health of South Florida, Inc. putting into motion a vision she had long strived to achieve. As an immigrant, Ison saw firsthand the poor and hazardous working conditions that immigrant and minority workers were often subjected to, and how the lack of an adequate health center in South Dade meant many were left without access to proper medical care. The formation of CHI in 1971 by Ison would be the start of a remarkable 50-year commitment by CHI that has seen the community health facility become a beacon of hope for those who without the access to the health care they deserved. Over the years, CHI continued to grow in scope, expanding its available services, and opening additional centers throughout South Florida to now 11 locations and 35 school-based suites, a mobile medical van and a mobile dental unit.
 
“It is an incredible honor to be able to celebrate patients who have been with us for so long, some of them for 50 years,” said Brodes H. Hartley Jr., President/CEO of CHI. “We are also thrilled to celebrate our community partners and donors who have helped to ensure Ison’s dream continues to grow and provide exceptional service to the underserved communities of South Florida.”
At 6:30, on the same day, the non-profit organization will host a virtual donor celebration to induct donors into its giving societies and thank them for their contributions. This event is private, but the Patient Appreciation Ceremony is open to the media.
 
CHI’s Patient Appreciation Ceremony will be hosted at 10:30am on May 12, 2021 at the Doris Ison Health Center, located at 10300 SW 216th St. Miami, FL, and will be attended by invited tenured patients, CHI staff, local community leaders, media, and other special guests.
