April 15, 2021 – Tanya Miller, Jennifer Thomason and Aaron Tell have joined the Alzheimer’s Association as the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s event co-chairs in Boca Raton.

Miller, a local community advocate, said the Alzheimer’s Association has been an invaluable resource to her and her family since her mother received her life-altering diagnosis.

Local music artist hosting benefit concert for Alzheimer’s awareness

April 15, 2021 – For those living with Alzheimer’s disease, music can be a comforting therapy, and that’s a fact 18-year-old Ben Miller realized at a young age.
 
“My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2015,” said Miller, who is a senior at North Broward Preparatory School. “I found that if I sang old nostalgic tunes to her, she was able to hum along and often finish the lines to the songs. It allowed us to communicate on a different level once her verbal skills started to diminish.”

FAU Awarded $641,818 from the Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer’s Disease Research Program
 
April 15, 2021 – Four researchers from Florida Atlantic University’s Schmidt College of Medicine and Charles E. Schmidt College of Science have received grants totaling $641,818 from the Florida Department of Health’s Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer’s Disease Research Program. Award recipients also represent the FAU Brain Institute, which advances neuroscience research, promotes neuroscience education, facilitates translational research discoveries and enhances public awareness, and the FAU Institute for Human Health and Disease Intervention (I-HEALTH), created to advance health through pioneering research and practical applications.
