Board-certified gastrointestinal medical oncologist Sarbajit Mukherjee, M.D., MS, has been named chief of gastrointestinal medical oncology at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Mukherjee specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the gastrointestinal tract. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.
Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Mukherjee was an associate professor of oncology and associate professor of immunology and served as co-leader of the gastrointestinal translational research group at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY.
Dr. Mukherjee earned his medical degree at Nilratan Sircar Medical College, West Bengal University of Health Sciences in India. He gained experience in translational research and clinical trial design through a master’s program in clinical and translational science at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. His clinical training includes an internal medicine residency at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago and a hematology-oncology fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
