March 27, 2024 Baptist Health celebrated the completion of a new, state-of-the-art endovascular suite at South Miami Hospital during a ribbon cutting event on March 11. An extension of Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, the new multipurpose room supports a comprehensive range of cardiovascular interventional services, including structural heart, electrophysiology, interventional radiology and interventional vascular procedures.

Equipped with sophisticated medical technology, the hybrid suite features the Philips Azurion FlexArm system—a highly advanced platform with switchable monitors, advanced cardiac and vascular analytic tools, infra-vascular ultrasound, and hemodynamic physiologic testing capabilities. The suite also features an advanced air handling and cleaning system that uses indigo lighting for continuous disinfection.

“This new suite provides us with the opportunity to offer a full range of transcatheter interventions for valvular heart disease right here at South Miami Hospital,” said Nish Patel, MD, Interventional Cardiologist at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. “We are also able to participate in even more cutting-edge clinical trials, ultimately expanding our Heart & Vascular services for the South Florida community.”

In line with Baptist Health’s commitment to innovation, collaboration and excellence in patient care, the hybrid suite will enable the Institute to treat more patients at South Miami Hospital without having to transfer them to transfer to location for more comprehensive and complex care.
