South Florida’s premier healthcare providers, Broward Health and Kindred Healthcare, recently collaborated by means of a “transfer agreement” to offer their patients the most appropriate, cost effective and quality care possible.

The transfer agreement allows for acute care patients at Kindred Hospital Fort Lauderdale to be transferred to Broward General Medical Center when high-level diagnostic and/or surgical services are required and cannot be performed in the long-term acute care hospital environment.

Kindred Hospital Fort Lauderdale is a 70-bed long-term acute care hospital that specializes in the care of medically complex patients particularly in the areas of respiratory management, wound care, infectious disease and stroke/cardiac rehabilitation. Kindred patients come from short-term acute care hospitals, like Broward General Medical Center, when they require further hospitalization before moving on to lower levels of care.

Many local physicians serve on the medical staffs at both facilities.
