Broward Health Coral Springs (BHCS) is pleased to announce the October DAISY RN is Karen Puello from the Emergency Department. Her compelling nomination of saving a women’s life from a gun-shot wound due to her critical thinking is why she was selected. Without Karen’s proactive leadership and commitment to the highest standards of nursing this gunshot would likely not have been noted immediately on arrival – or possibly at all – and this patient would have likely died that day. Thanks to Karen for her extraordinary nursing instincts, quick action, and assessment skills, this patient is alive today. BHCS is fortunate to have such an intuitive patient advocate like Karen as a member of both the ED and BHCS team.
