May 25, 2023 – Broward Health unveiled its newest robotic technology on May 24 during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Broward Health Medical Center. The flagship hospital is the first in Broward County to be equipped with Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci single-port robotic surgical system.

“We are thrilled to bring the single-port robot to Broward Health Medical Center,” said Ryan H. Sobel, M.D., medical director of oncology for Broward Health. “This next-level technology will continue to advance our robotic surgery offerings in head and neck surgery, urologic surgery, and more to better serve the needs of our community.”

The single-port robotic system is the latest iteration of robotic technology that allows surgeons across multiple specialties to perform complex procedures with more camera visibility, precision and maneuverability through a single incision. Benefits of using the robot can include rapid recovery, reduced scarring, and improved quality outcomes for patients.

Broward Health leaders were joined by physicians and caregivers to mark the significant acquisition.

The da Vinci single-port robotic surgical system offers versatility for different procedures including urology and trans-oral robotic surgery (TORS) procedures.
