nspired by her aunt, a nurse who introduced her to the concept of Nursing Informatics as an upcoming nursing specialty, Giesa Espanol blends her love for caring, communication and technology to improve workflows and promote patient safety, quality care and strong teamwork collaboration in the 5th floor Telemetry Unit at Broward Health Imperial Point.
Espanol also serves as an Epic Site Lead and Epic Superuser, leveraging her expertise with the electronic health records system to train staff, optimize workflows and enhance patient care. Originally from the Philippines, Espanol moved to the U.S. in 2008 and has been a nurse for 10 years, including the past eight as an RN.
Espanol holds a master’s degree in nursing informatics from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. Her advice to aspiring nurses is to “have a vision for your impact and let that guide a journey of growth, purpose and excellence.”
