Broward Health celebrated the new state-of-the-art Advanced Training Sim Lab opening at Broward Health Medical Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event marked the addition of the Advanced HAL® S3201 multipurpose patient simulator, designed to replicate real-life medical scenarios with high detail. This cutting-edge simulator, also known as a high-fidelity medical dummy, offers a realistic, accurate representation of medical situations, providing healthcare professionals with the opportunity to train in a controlled, risk-free environment.
The simulator is designed to replicate real-life medical scenarios, reflecting a variety of medical conditions and physiological verbal responses, including changes in breathing, heart rate and vital signs. Equipped with features that offer both immersive and dynamic learning experiences, the simulator enables healthcare professionals to practice basic procedures, such as intubation and central line insertion, up to and including high-pressure situations like code blues and rapid responses.
The simulator can be used across a range of clinical situations, including:
- Code blue and rapid response defibrillation, which allows for realistic defibrillation training by monitoring, capturing, pacing and cardioverting
- Advanced airway management, including a programable airway that can simulate conditions such as tongue edema and laryngospasm
- Drug recognition system that automatically detects the type, dose and rate of medication injected into the lower right arm, using a pre-programmed library of virtual medications
- Real-time feedback that is integrated into the system, tracking and logging trainee actions to enable instructors to offer instant, data-driven feedback
- Advanced cardiac and neuro features, such as real-time ECGs with physiological variations and reactive eyes, simulating a range of conditions, including seizures
The simulator will primarily support Broward Health Medical Center’s nursing staff, but others who benefit from the simulator include emergency medical technicians and clinicians in the Intensive Care Unit, operating room and medical-surgical departments. The versatile simulator offers a risk-free environment to practice essential skills and improve clinical judgement.
