August 4, 2023 – Broward Health is pleased to announce Gonzalo Solís as Chief Operating Officer for Broward Health Medical Center and Madison Workman as Chief Operating Officer for Broward Health North. 

 

Workman and Solís will oversee daily operations and lead operational strategy at Broward Health Medical Center and Broward Health North, respectively.

Prior to joining Broward Health, Solís was vice president of operations at University of Maryland Medical System, which encompasses 1,000 licensed acute beds and includes the primary teaching hospitals for University of Maryland School of Medicine. He was responsible for leading and integrating operations of two campuses into one academic medical center with more than 1,000 full-time employees. Solís also previously worked for a decade in roles of increasing responsibility at Yale New Haven Health system, which included the primary teaching hospitals for Yale School of Medicine. 

 

Solís earned his Master of Health Services Administration, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Brain, Behavior & Cognitive Sciences, from the University of Michigan. In addition, he is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served as a board member of Maryland Association of Healthcare Executives. 

Madison Workman

Garner, Chief Executive Officer of Broward Health North. “His extensive experience and proven track record in healthcare leadership will bring a fresh perspective and innovative strategies to our hospital as we continue to provide exceptional care and enhance the well-being of our patients in the Broward County community.” 

Prior to joining Broward Health, Workman served as COO at HCA Florida University Hospital, where he oversaw the implementation of all operational goals and led strategic growth initiatives. Before joining HCA, he was the COO at North Shore Medical Center and the Group COO for Tenet Healthcare’s Miami-Dade market, which consisted of five acute-care facilities with more than 1,500 licensed acute beds. Workman also previously served as the COO at Coral Gables Hospital, where he led numerous service line development initiatives, construction, and operational projects.  

Workman earned his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and his Master of Health Administration from the University of Florida. He is a former board member of the American College of Healthcare Executives South Florida Chapter and a recipient of the Becker’s Hospital Review Rising Stars: 90 Healthcare Leaders under 40. Additionally, he is board certified in healthcare management as an active Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives
